We’re making progress in brightening up the neighbourhood! In partnership with the York Eglinton BIA, we have been successful in securing funding to add another mural, visible from Oakwood Avenue, with a new work of art that reflects the history and culture of Eglinton Ave W. Together with local artist Adrian Hayles, we will build on the success of the first ‘Reggae Legends’ mural near Eglinton at the East end of Reggae Lane. The project will complement our other efforts to revitalize the area by supporting the underground Eglinton Crosstown transit line, shutting down problem bars, promoting business and bringing new services to the area.
The aim of this new mural is to bring our community together, create links between Toronto’s Reggae history, and promote the array of unique local businesses on Eglinton Ave. W. The concept and design for the second mural stemmed from the Reggae Lane Master Plan developed by the Laneway Project in partnership with the Friends of Reggae Lane group and is being funded by the City of Toronto.
