Published March 5, 2014 - Last month, we held the 2nd Public Meeting on the Dufferin Avenue Study to present options from the first public engagement and design charrette. I was pleased so many residents were able to attend and provide input on this important re-visioning of Dufferin Avenue. The goal of this study is to provide a blueprint for all that could be possible in this significant area of our community. The next meeting of the Local Advisory Committee is on March 26.

Dufferin Avenue Study November 6, 2013 Public Meeting

It was great to see so many area residents at the first public meeting for the Dufferin Avenue Study on November 6. This meeting was an opportunity for local residents to give their input on the community vision, and work towards building a planning framework for the future of Dufferin. Read summary.

If you missed the meeting on November 6, you can find the presentation here, and the display panels here.  After the presentation, the small groups provided a great opportunity for participants to really get involved and share their ideas.

The next public consultations are planned for winter 2014, and I will continue to provide updates as date are confirmed.

Study Boundary 1

Published November 2013

In recent updates I told residents about an upcoming Dufferin Avenue Study that would provide the local community with the comfort they need by laying out a well thought out plan for improving the liveability and growth of the community, and provide a framework for directing and support any future City building.

The first public open house for the Dufferin Avenue Study will take place this Wednesday November 6th at 6:30 pm at the Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre, 38 Orfus Road. View Flyer

For reasons that include the presence of vacant and underutilized lands, increased traffic volume and congestion, and need for streetscape improvements, the City wants to hear from you on how we can improve Dufferin Street.

I hope to see you this Wednesday. If you are unable to attend you can also forward your comments regarding Dufferin to my office to be included in the Planning study and feedback.

Published June 2013

Dufferin Street is in need of renewal now. With this in mind, I requested an "Avenue Study" for Dufferin north of Lawrence to Highway 401.

The study will establish a framework for development as the area continues to grow and provide residents with the comfort of a comprehensive plan for improving the liveability of Dufferin Street. It will evaluate existing traffic conditions, identify Dufferin Street as a transit priority expansion area, and help prevent piecemeal development in the neighbourhood.

There will be many opportunities for residents to be involved in this process of planning for Dufferin. Community consultations will begin this fall and include public open houses and design charettes. I will also form a Local Advisory Committee (LAC) consisting of residents and local business owners who will meet on a regular basis to assist with the Avenue Study.

If you are interested in joining the Local Advisory Committee, or have any questions or comments about this exciting project, please contact my office at 416-392-4027.
