In 2010 a zoning application was made with the former Councillor to construct an 18 storey mixed-use residential condo apartment building with 12 town homes fronting onto Lanarck Avenue, retail along Eglinton and underground parking. This site currently contains a vacant commercial building.
The City did not approve the proposed zoning by-law amendment and the applicant appealed this matter to the OMB. A municipal resolution with the local Councillor was reached at City Council on July 6, 2010 and resulted in a reduction in the buildings height, community benefits for local improvements to the area, and a public art contribution.
This site has since changed owners and due to the lack of public consultation that occurred with the previous application (by previous owner) I requested the new owners meet with residents this past December. With input from residents, ongoing discussions between my office, City Planning and the property owner have resulted in additional improvements to retail space, improved parking considerations and access, and the reduction of 12 to 7 town homes on Lanarck Ave. and design improvements.
