I want to take this opportunity to share two community updates with you:
Accessible Pedestrian signals (APS) push button
As part of the City's Vision Zero goals to improve road safety for all, the Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) push button at Bathurst Street and Saranac Boulevard is now ready for use. You must push the button for at least 3 seconds to activate the APS. In addition to designating Bathurst and Saranac as a Senior Safety Zone, this APS push button is another way to enhance pedestrian safety in our community.
Basement flooding protection program
To help reduce surface and basement flooding, the City of Toronto will be upgrading the storm and sanitary sewer system in our community. Underground and street-level work will start late this August 2018, with the estimated completion date of September 2020.
Underground work is planned for:
- Prince Charles Drive
- Dunblaine Avenue
- Barse Street
- Glengarry Avenue
- Sultana Avenue
- Baycrest Avenue
- Ameer Avenue
- Brooke Avenue
Work with existing road infrastructure is planned for:
- Old Orchard Grove
- Ranee Avenue
- Falkirk Street
- Bedford Park Avenue
- Woburn Avenue
- Douglas Avenue
- Haddington Avenue
- Bannockburn Avenue
- Cranbrooke Avenue
- Saranac Boulevard
- Bathurst Street
- Brucewood Crescent
The City will be sending area residents a public notice that has more details regarding this basement flooding protection program, and storm and sanitary system upgrades.
